What were New York and Philly thinking?

And then Lindros was fairly worthless plus he was a jerk. I think they had the mentality that they could buy their way to a Stanley Cup. There was so much hype about what an amazing player he was, even being compared to The Great One, that they figured once they got their mits on him that they'd surely win the cup. If they'd only known they'd actually be giving that Championship to the future Avalanche.
