Why did Eminem have to change style to sell Records?

Its so stupid how he switched up his whole style to pop music on Recovery. Marshall mathers lp and eminem show both sold 10 mill copies in the US and went diamond. Why couldn't he do another album like that?!@?@! wtf eminem i lost all respect for you after you did songs with bruno mars, wayne , and rhianna
