The carbon in a buried peat has about 6% of the carbon 14 of modern shells. what is the age of the peat?

In 5730 years, the C-14 content shrinks to 50% of its original level. In another 5730 years, it shrinks to 25%, In another 5730 years, it shrinks to 12.5%. In yet another 5730 years, it shrinks to 6.25% of the original level. That tells us the peat is about 5730 X 4 = 22,920 years old.
