Describe polar covalent bonds using water as an example?

H-O-H is how water is structurally, although the hydrogens are bent because of 2 lone pairs on the oxygen atom. These bonds are covalent because the electronegative difference between H and O is small enough to be covalent. Also as a rule of thumb, covalent bonds form whenever non metal atoms bond. Its polar because the majority of the electrons in the molecule are surrounded around the oxygen atom because its more electronegative.
