Questions about starch production in leaf disks in a sugar solution?

This is an experiment to prove photosynthesis I think. In photosynthesis Carbon Dioxide and Water in the presence of light and Chlorophyll produces glucose and oxygen. Without the green pigmentation or light the glucose will not be produced. However plants have a dark respiratory cycle which I think would allow glucose absorbed by the plant to be changed into starch for storage.
